Job summary

Bechtel in Brownsville, TX is hiring an experienced Journey Level Pipefitter to install and commission piping systems on industrial construction projects. You will read isometrics and diagrams, lay out and thread pipes, prepare weld joints, and support field teams to meet codes and safety standards.

The role requires 5+ years in industrial construction, basic rigging and tool skills, and the ability to plan work and travel safely on site.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in industrial construction as a Journeyman Pipefitter
• Basic rigging skills
• Proficient with small power tools (e.g., die grinder)
• Able to read piping isometrics
• Experience reading piping and instrument diagrams (preferred)
• 3+ years of testing and commissioning piping systems
• Capable of planning work and meeting project codes and standards
• Able to thread pipes using a threading machine

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret piping isometric drawings
• Plan and execute pipe installation and welding prep
• Lay out and assemble piping systems
• Thread pipes with threading machine
• Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials
• Maintain tools and equipment and follow safety procedures
• Work at heights and on scaffolds as required

Project Location:

Brownsville, TX

Pay Range:

$30.75 - $35.00per hour (dependent on qualifications and experience).

Per Diem:

$75 per day worked.

Responsibilities:

• 5 + years of experience in industrial construction as a Journey Level Pipefitter.
• Possess basic rigging skills.
• Proficient in the use of small power tools (i.e. die grinder, right angle grinder).
• Able to read and comprehend piping isometric drawings.
• Able to read piping & instrument diagrams' (preferred).
• 3+ years' experience in the testing and commissioning of piping systems.
• Capable of efficiently planning work.
• Capable of weld joint preparation to meet project codes and standards.
• Proficient in pipe lay-out.
• Threads pipe using a threading machine.
• Able to read and comprehend support details/drawings.
• May assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.
• Cleans and performs minor maintenance activities on tools and equipment.
• Must be able to safely traverse uneven terrain with tools and building materials.
• Must be able to climb vertical ladders and work from heights as necessary.
• Adheres to all safety procedures.
• Understand the use of all types of personal fall arrest systems.
• Able to access scaffold.
