Job summary

Vertical Mechanical Group (VMG) is hiring a Pipefitter Helper to support field teams on commercial mechanical construction projects in Sterling, VA. You will learn on the job, assist experienced pipefitters, read basic drawings, and develop piping and mechanical skills in a hands-on setting.

Ideal candidates are dependable, able to lift 50+ pounds, and willing to follow safety policies and directions from foremen and leaders. Training and growth opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Entry-level candidates encouraged to apply.
• Basic understanding of hand tools, power tools, or mechanical systems preferred.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in active construction environments.
• Reliable transportation to assigned jobsites.

Responsibilities

• Assist Pipefitters with layout, assembly, installation and maintenance of commercial piping systems.
• Help measure, cut, prepare, and assemble pipe using hand and power tools.
• Assist with installation of pipes, valves, fittings, supports and related components.
• Prepare pipe ends by grinding, cleaning and applying sealants as required.
• Support heating, cooling, hydronic, and other mechanical piping systems installation.
• Assist with pressure testing and checking piping systems for leaks.
