Job summary

Turner Industries seeks Pipefitter/Boilermakers to join our Tank crew in Old Ocean, TX. You will assemble, disassemble, and align boilers, tanks, headers and process equipment to blueprint specifications.

This role requires 4+ years of field experience, TWIC, and compliance with client safety rules. You will work outdoors, lift heavy components, and participate in testing completed vessels on a fast-paced oil/gas site.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience in the specified skill.
• Written pre-employment qualification test.
• Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
• Hazard Communication orientation/test.
• Turner Industries indoctrination and safety program.
• OSHA eye protection requirements (Z87) and PPE.
• Adherence to client safety rules and site orientation.
• TWIC card required.
• NCCER preferred or craft test if not certified.

Responsibilities

• Assembles/disassembles boilers, tanks, vats, exchangers and heaters per blueprints.
• Locates reference points, lifts pieces, and bolts frames and sections.
• Aligns structures, hoses, and drums; tests assembled vessels for integrity.
• Ensures safety compliance and proper use of PPE on site.

Turner Industries is seeking Pipefitter/Boilermakers to join our Tank crew located in Old Ocean, TX.

• NO PER DIEM, IDEAL FOR CANDIDATES LOCAL TO THE AREA
• Must have valid TWIC card
• Must be able to work under fresh air
• 5-10's must be available to work overtime as needed, schedule subject to change
• NCCER highly preferred, if not certified craft test required
• Background check, drug test, and safety council required

General Job Description

Assembles and disassembles, erects and repairs boilers, tanks, vats, pressure vessels, exchangers and heaters according to blueprint specifications.

Functional Requirements

Locates and marks reference points for columns and plates on foundation; attaches rigging or signals crane operator to lift parts to specified position; aligns structures or plate sections to assemble boiler frame, tanks or vats; hammers, flame-cuts, files or grinds irregular edges of sections or structural parts to facilitate fitting edges together; bolts structures and sections together; positions drums and headers into supports or bolts supports to frame; aligns water tubes and connects and expands tube ends to drums and headers; bolts casing sections, uptakes, stacks, baffles and such fabricated parts as chutes, air heaters, fan stands, feeding tube, catwalks, ladders, coal hoppers and safety hatch to frame; installs trays in process towers; installs manholes, valves, gauges and feedwater connection in drums to complete assembly of water tube boilers; assists in testing assembled vessels.

Qualification Standards

• Four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
• Written pre-employment qualification test

• OSHA approved corrective eyewear (Z87)
• Job site orientation
• Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots,

• protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.)
• Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others in the work place

Tools/Equipment

Employee may be required to provide the following: tool box, crescent wrenches, tape, spud wrenches, hammer, tri square, striker, burning goggles, tip cleaners, work gloves, framing square, level, torpedo level, center punch, channel locks, set of combination wrenches, pipe wrench, hacksaw, rain suit.

Physical Involvement

Employee may be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds structures, etc.; reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing; sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; crawling. seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction.

Mental Involvement

Employee may be required to do the following: following set procedures and standards; applying basic mathematical skills; planning work and selecting proper tools; comparing and understanding differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects; picturing and evaluating solid objects from drawing or diagrams using standards that can be measured or checked; following oral and/or written directions, plans and blueprints; reading; writing; ability to recognize and report safety hazards.
