Job summary

Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. is seeking an experienced pipefitter to lay out, install and maintain vessels' piping systems, including heat and power, hot water and hydraulic lines.

Responsibilities include following blueprints, cutting and threading pipe, connecting fixtures, and testing systems for leaks with a helper. 3-5 years of experience required; torch operation and tack welding preferred.

• Capable of operating a cutting torch and tack welding

GENERAL FUNCTION

The pipefitter lays out, installs and maintains vessels' piping systems, such as heat and power, hot water, hydraulic, air pressure and oil lines.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Follows blueprints and uses hand tools and shop machines.
• Cuts and bores holes in bulkheads and decks for installation of pipes.
• Cuts and threads pipe and pipefittings.
• Connects pipes to fixtures and test systems for leaks, ensuring that the system meets specifications.
• Works with a tacker/helper to perform precision work and solve problems.
• Be able to perceive pertinent detail in objects or blueprints.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Knowledge of blueprints and drawings.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & TRAINING

3-5 years of experience, as a pipefitter. Capable of operating a cutting torch and tack welding.
