Job summary

Northrop Grumman Corp. is seeking a union pipefitter/plumber to fabricate, install, and maintain piping systems across multiple shifts. Must read drawings and troubleshoot steam and boiler networks, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality.

You will join a team under Local 261c, bring a four-year piping/plumbing apprenticeship, and possibly welding certification. The role requires flexibility and attention to records, with opportunities to contribute to process improvements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Completion of a 4-year piping/plumbing apprenticeship and 4+ years journeyman experience or 10 years pipefitting in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to respond in high-stress situations.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, maintain, and install piping systems.
  • Read and interpret drawings and schematics to install piping systems.
  • Clean and maintain boilers.
  • Troubleshoot steam, air, and water systems.
  • Support and utilize applicable GOPs and UOPs.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain business processes within scope.
  • Improve quality by continuously improving products and services.

Scope of Work
  • Fabricate, maintain, and install piping systems. Experience with steam and plumbing systems.
  • Must be able to clean and maintain boilers.
  • Must have ability to troubleshoot steam, air and water systems.
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings and schematics to install and troubleshoot piping systems.
  • Knowledge of sprinkler and deluge systems desirable.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Candidate must be flexible in accepting additional duties as assigned by supervision.
  • Candidate must be able to organize work area and maintain neat and proper records.
  • Candidate must be able to analyze data and make appropriate judgments and must be able to work effectively with Plant Management.
  • Reference, support, and utilize appropriate GOPs and UOPs.
  • Provide improvement suggestions where needed.
  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining business processes in scope of responsibility.
  • Improve quality by continuously improving products and services for our customers.

Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma required.
  • Must be able to work all three shift schedules, seniority will dictate which shift.
  • Must have completed an approved 4 year piping/plumbing apprenticeship and a minimum of four years experience as a journeyman pipefitter/plumber or ten years pipefitting experience in an approved industrial environment.
  • Essential reading skills are required.
  • High degree of mechanical aptitude and the ability to respond appropriately in high stress situations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Some post high school education is preferred.
  • It is preferred the Candidates have pipe and welding certification and must provide documentation showing all applicable experience and training with appropriate references.
Pay
  • The current pay rate for this position is $34.39, since this is a union position, this rate is non-negotiable.
