Job summary

A leading pharmaceutical manufacturer in Rahway, New Jersey seeks an experienced Industrial Pipefitter to provide mechanical maintenance support. Responsibilities include installation and repair of piping systems for utilities, ensuring compliance with safety and GMP standards. Ideal candidates will have strong troubleshooting skills and relevant vocational training or equivalent experience.

  • 4 years apprenticeship or 8 years of experience as an industrial Pipefitter with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Strong leadership and the ability to work as part of a team is a must.
  • Familiar with all phases of industrial maintenance.

Provide mechanical maintenance support of our facilities & utilities, at our Rahway, New Jersey pharmaceutical research campus. Support day-to-day preventative and corrective maintenance for assigned area(s), including technical input to mechanical utilities in areas of HVAC, steam, water, and/or other utilities.

Experienced Industrial Pipefitter with working knowledge of mechanical operations. Able to maintain, repair, troubleshoot, and install plant equipment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Layout, assemble, install, alter, modify, repair, and test pipe systems that carry site utilities (water, steam, air, or other liquids, or gases)

Read and understand blueprints and P&I diagrams.

Fabricate supports, mount, and braces for pipelines, valves, instruments, and connected equipment.

Install, maintain, and troubleshoot, regulators, valves, traps, and equipment connected to piping. Install and repair drainage systems in compliance with applicable plumbing code.

Repair tanks including heating coils, associated pipe systems, and insulation as required. Perform appropriate pressure tests and leak tests to ensure repairs are done properly.

Assist in performing other duties, including work of other trades as required.

Maintain work area and equipment in a safe, efficient, and clean operating condition.

This position requires interaction with internal customers and external service providers, supports and contributes to maintenance planning process.

Uses all tools and equipment necessary to make installations and repairs, diagnose & remedy mechanical problems quickly. Proficient in rigging and the set-up of rigging equipment needed to execute repair work.

Ensures compliance requirements are achieved, e.g. - Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), safety, and environmental.

Supports a Target Zero Safety Culture.

Documents Maintenance activities using SAP computerized maintenance system.

Completes training requirements as defined in training plan. Provides complete written documentation of work including work orders, PM's, etc. and maintains cGMP records related to maintenance & repair.

Utilize electronic technologies, electronic work order systems, e-training, and email.
