Job summary

Lee Industrial Contracting in Pontiac, Michigan, is seeking skilled pipefitters with strong experience in industrial piping and plumbing. The role focuses on layout, fabrication, and installation of piping systems per project specifications, with emphasis on safety and compliance.

The position requires blueprints interpretation, rigorous attention to detail, and the ability to work with multiple departments to ensure successful project completion.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in Industrial Pipefitting or Commercial Plumbing.
• Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair, according to specifications.
• Can read/interpret blueprint/schematics.
• Basic knowledge of Plumbing & Mechanical Code.
• Material take-offs
• Process piping system knowledge.
• Investigate and complete piping repairs
• Valid Drivers License

Responsibilities

• Measure, cut, and bend various sizes of pipe and tubing to required angle/length using pipe cutters and benders
• Thread and assemble steel pipe
• Prepare, fabricate, fit and install pipe to specifications
• Install valves, hangers, supports, and flanges in piping systems according to plans and applicable specifications
• Repair leaks in all types of pipe systems
• Assemble, install and repair piping systems according to specifications and appropriate trade and building codes
• Ensure attention to detail and follow safety standards
• Work with other departments as needed

Preferred Requirements

• Hot tap
• Journeyman plumber license
• Cone and thread
• Victaulic certification
• NCCER pipe fitting certification

Equipment & tool experience:

• Aerial lift Operation - Boom & Scissor Lift
• Forklift Operation - Material Handling up to 5000#
• Forklift Operation - Material Handling up to 8000#
• Telehandler
• Chauffeur LIC/Med DOT Physical (preferred)
• Trailer Loading and Securing of Material (preferred)

Rigging Requirements:

• Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and materials
• Utilize and understand the constraints of chains, synthetic, metal mesh, and wire rope slings
• Use & recognize rigging hardware including hooks, shackles, wire rope clips, clamps, eye bolts, softeners and tag lines
• Identifies common load configurations & positioning
• Rigger 1 training – trains on above

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to ascend/descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and/or operate scissor/boom lifts while working at height
• Work in permit & non-permit required confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment
• Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 50 pounds regularly/occasionally
• Must be able to respond quickly to auditory alarms, visual signals, or other effective means to communicate hazards
• Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
• Must be able to work in cold/hot environments
• Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain
