Job summary

SE&M Constructors, LLC in Elm City, NC is seeking a piping technician to install, assemble, fabricate, maintain, and repair piping systems in industrial settings.

You will read blueprints, use pipe cutting tools and welding equipment, perform hydrostatic or air tests, and work under supervision while ensuring safety compliance and system efficiency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 1+ years of pipefitting experience in an industrial setting preferred.
• OSHA 10 or 30 safety certification or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Install, assemble, fabricate, maintain, and repair piping systems in industrial settings.
• Layout, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related equipment.
• Use pipe cutters, threading machines, and welding tools to join pipes by welding, brazing, soldering, cementing, gluing, or threading.
• Fabricate pipe spools and components per project requirements using welding and fitting techniques.
• Diagnose and repair faults in piping systems, including leaks or pressure issues.
• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications to plan layouts and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Test piping systems for leaks using hydrostatic or air pressure tests.
• Lead and instruct mechanical piping helpers, mechanics, and fitters under supervision.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure systems operate safely and efficiently.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
• Strong mathematical skills for measurements and calculations
• Mechanical aptitude with an understanding of different piping systems and materials and industrial standards
