Iowa State University is seeking a skilled Pipefitter to join the Utilities Mechanical Distribution department. This role involves installing and repairing piping systems for steam, water, and drainage, ensuring the maintenance of critical mechanical infrastructures. Required Minimum Qualifications: Six years of experience in the trade, which may include an apprenticeship.
Special Required Qualifications: Grade 1 operator Water Distribution License, within first 6 months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience installing or operating steam systems, operating domestic water systems, installing large piping in trenches, operating excavation equipment, reading blueprints or drawings for utilities, and demonstrated knowledge of OSHA regulations (confined spaces, asbestos, excavation, PPE, traffic control).

Under general supervision, this position applies journey-level expertise to install and repair piping, fixtures, appliances, and related systems for steam, water, and drainage. The Pipefitter will also perform various duties incidental to these systems, ensuring the proper function and maintenance of crucial mechanical infrastructures.
