Job Description
Turner Industries Group is looking for experienced industrial Pipe Welders for maintenance work in Decatur, AL.
Per diem and relocation are not available for this position; the successful candidate should be current in/near the Decatur area.
Lay out, fit, and weld fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms, such as tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, pipe, and building and bridge parts.
Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding; lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together; bolts, clamps, tack welds parts to secure in position for welding; sets up equipment and welds parts; may assemble parts by bolting and riveting; may weld pipe such as carbon steel, stainless steel, chrome, etc., by process of arc, heliarc, gas, MIG, TIG, etc.; may weld pipe, sheet metal, structural steel, brackets, or other materials; may repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts; may use cutting torch to cut materials and demo existing assemblies.
Employee may be required to provide tools such as toolbox, crescent wrenches, hacksaw, pipe wrench, set of combination wrenches, striker, tip cleaner, hood, cutting goggles, soapstone holder, welding gloves, set of Allen wrenches, tri-square, bottle wrench, ball peen hammer, channel locks, rain suit.
Involves climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures; maintaining balance; reaching, handling, and manipulating objects; lifting 30-50 pounds; standing, sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, crouching/squatting, crawling; seeing and hearing with or without correction.
Requires following procedures and standards; reading and writing; recognizing hazards; interpreting plans and blueprints; basic math; planning work; effective communication; teamwork; learning new tasks; maintaining focus; managing time; ensuring compliance.
Work occurs at industrial sites, equipment yards, or fabrication shops; may involve uneven ground, confined spaces, high/low elevations; outdoor conditions with extreme weather, noise, and chemical exposure.
