Job summary

Caton Construction Group in Farmville, Virginia, is seeking an experienced Pipe Layer for our roadway construction project. You will assemble, align, and install pipe systems for storm and sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains, ensuring proper trench prep and pipe alignment. The role starts with negotiable pay based on skills and experience.

Normal hours are Monday–Friday 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Benefits include health, vision and dental insurance, 401(k) with company match, and PTO.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience as a pipe layer preferred.

Responsibilities

• Align pipes in pipeline sections.
• Dig trenches with trenching tools.
• Slide pipe into trenches.
• Coordinate with tractor driver for pipe placement.
• Insert spaces between pipes.
• Inspect joints for proper alignment and spacing.
• Lay pipe for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains.
• Grade trenches or culverts.
• Seal joints with cement or glue.
• Use glue or welding equipment to fit pipes.
• Ensure pipes are fitted using grade rods or transit levels.
• Cover pipes with dirt or other material.
• Drill holes into pipes for auxiliary lines.
• Perform maintenance and replace pipes as needed.
• Utilize magnetic or radio indicators.
