Job summary

Cabildo Staffing is seeking experienced Pipe Layer Helpers for construction projects in New Orleans and surrounding areas. This full-time, temp-to-hire role requires prior underground utility construction experience and offers $18.00 per hour.

Work schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, with weekends as needed based on project requirements. The Pipe Layer Helper will assist with installation, repair, and maintenance of underground sewer, storm drain, and water utility systems, in outdoor

Qualifications

• 1 year of Pipe Layer Helper experience or related underground utility construction experience.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Reliable transportation to job sites in Greater New Orleans area.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Ability to perform physically demanding labor (lifting, digging, bending, trenches).

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation of sewer, water, and drainage pipe systems.
• Perform trench digging, grading, and site preparation.
• Assist with laying, aligning, and connecting underground utility pipe.
• Load, unload, and stage materials, equipment, and tools.
• Set grades and elevations; backfill and compact trenches as directed.
• Operate hand tools and small power tools safely.
• Assist with locating and protecting existing utilities.
• Maintain a clean and safe work site; follow OSHA safety policies.
