Job summary

Valley Corporation is seeking a Pipelayer to assemble, install, connect, and repair pipe systems for storm and sanitary sewers, drains, and water mains. The role includes trench work, alignment checks, and ensuring safety in accordance with project specifications.

The candidate should have two years of relevant experience and construction background, with the ability to lift 50 lbs+, work independently, and possess a valid driver’s license.

Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Pipelayer is responsible for assembling, installing, connecting, and repairing pipe systems used for storm and sanitary sewers, drains, and water mains. This role prepares the work area, assists with trench excavation and grading, verifies proper pipe alignment and slope, and ensures all work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Measure and cut pipe to specified lengths in accordance with project requirements.
  • Assist in the alignment and placement of pipe during pipeline construction activities.
  • Position and prepare pipe for welding, sealing, or connection as required.
  • Verify pipe slopes and grades for compliance with project specifications using levels, lasers, or related equipment.
  • Connect pipe sections and properly seal joints to ensure secure and reliable installation.
  • Grade, level, and prepare trench bases using tamping machines, hand tools, and other appropriate equipment.
  • Provide guidance and training to team members on proper pipe-laying techniques and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support project needs and operational requirements.
Physical Requirements
  • Strength : Ability to regularly lift, push, pull, or carry objects weighing up to 50–100 lbs.
  • Stamina : Capability to perform strenuous physical labor for 8–10 hour shifts in various positions (standing, walking, bending, stooping, and kneeling).
  • Mobility : Ability to climb ladders, access ground-level surfaces, and work in confined spaces or on uneven terrain.
  • Dexterity : Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for tool use and material assembly.
  • Environmental Exposure : Comfortable working outdoors year-round in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, or snow.
  • Senses : Sufficient vision and hearing to identify safety hazards, read warning signs, and communicate in noisy environments.
