Job Summary

The pipe fusion technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of HDPE piping systems, typically involving the fusion of polyethylene pipes used in various industrial, construction, and municipal applications. This role requires expertise in fusion techniques, safety protocols, and the ability to work on-site to ensure the proper functioning and integrity of pipe fusion systems.

Job Summary

The pipe fusion technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of HDPE piping systems, typically involving the fusion of polyethylene pipes used in various industrial, construction, and municipal applications. This role requires expertise in fusion techniques, safety protocols, and the ability to work on-site to ensure the proper functioning and integrity of pipe fusion systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preform HDPE fusion welding techniques to join HDPE pipes and fittings.
  • Responsible for set up and maintaining fusion welding equipment to include butt fusion machines, socket fusion tools, electrofusion machines and all items associated with the machines.
  • Conduct visual inspections of fusion joints to identify any defects or irregularities and ensure that the welding process meets industry standards and quality requirements.
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines during operation, including the use of PPE.
  • Document fusion processes, including parameters, joint locations, and any other items that are required for project records.
  • Effectively communicate with management and other employees.
  • Maintain accurate records of fusion activities, including installation details, maintenance performed, and any issues encountered. Prepare reports and documentation for project tracking and compliance.
  • Work closely with project managers, field supervisors, and other team members to coordinate fusion activities and ensure project goals are met. Provide guidance and training to less experienced technicians if needed.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

  • Must have a minimum 2 years verifiable work experience as a pipe fusion Tech

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency in operating fusion equipment and tools. Strong understanding of pipe fusion techniques, pipe materials, and industry standards. Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Relevant certifications in pipe fusion or related disciplines (e.g., PE Fusion Technician Certification) may be required or preferred.
  • Employee must be capable of performing skilled labor for up to 12 hours a day.
  • Must be dependable and operate with a high-level of integrity.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding environment.

Work Location and Travel:

  • The main office is located at 2730 Mine and Mill Road, Lakeland, FL.
  • Travel to client and customer sites is required.
  • Days and hours of work may vary at times to include some evenings and weekends.

Work Environment

  • Working environment is often in harsh elements (hot / humid and/or cold temperatures, rain, etc.).
  • Industrial environments often have exposure to hazardous chemicals, moving heavy equipment, and other safety-sensitive hazards / risks.
  • Must always be alert and able to safely perform the essential duties of the job without risking harm to oneself or others.

Physical Requirements

Able to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.

Stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, or crawl: Frequently climbing, lifting, balancing, stooping, and handling materials.

See: Able to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.

Carry, weight, Lift: The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to (frequently - 25 pounds; routinely - 50 pounds).
