Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Pipe Foreman will manage a pipe crew as they assemble, layout, install, and maintain pipe systems on industrial new construction projects.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

1. Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work, including locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
2. Manage crew processes, scheduling, costs, employee relations issues, and employment needs.
3. Identify all tools required for tasks.
4. Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
5. Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of all pipe fitting processes.
6. Plan operations for scheduling workloads efficiently, utilizing assets and resources to minimize costs.
7. Ensure all QA/QC requirements are met on assigned projects.
8. Represent the company on bid walks and potential projects.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Must have 5+ years of experience with pipefitting processes in industrial construction, maintenance, or new construction. 1+ years in a supervisory role. Good understanding of the craft environment and knowledge of basic hand tools. Must pass the Craft Skills Test at or above 70% or have NCCER certification. Familiarity with Matrix Service policies and procedures, and completion of safety, process safety management, and site-specific training. Must maintain active status in the drug testing program and pass background checks.

PHYSICAL/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Stand, walk, bend, squat, sit, and lift as required.
• Communicate verbally and listen effectively.
• Use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects and tools.
• Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Work at heights, climb ladders and scaffolding with fall protection.
• Work in all weather conditions while wearing PPE.
