Position Summary:
The Pipe Foreman is responsible for leading utility construction crews in the installation of sanitary sewer, storm sewer, force main, water main, and lift station systems. This position oversees daily field operations, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with company standards, project plans, and regulatory requirements. The Pipe Foreman serves as the primary field leader for assigned crews and is expected to promote teamwork, quality workmanship, productivity, and a strong safety culture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise, direct, and coordinate the daily activities of utility crews.
- Assign work responsibilities and monitor crew productivity.
- Train, mentor, and develop employees while promoting teamwork and accountability.
- Maintain a safe work environment and enforce Company safety policies, OSHA standards, and trench safety requirements.
- Immediately address unsafe conditions or behaviors and report incidents promptly.
Project Management
- Interpret project plans, specifications, blueprints, and utility drawings.
- Plan daily work activities and coordinate labor, equipment, and materials.
- Ensure installation of underground utilities meets Company quality standards and project specifications.
- Verify line and grade using levels, pipe lasers, and other surveying equipment.
- Coordinate inspections with municipalities, utility authorities, engineers, and project management.
- Monitor project progress and communicate schedule changes, field issues, and production updates to the Superintendent.
Quality & Productivity
- Ensure projects are completed on schedule while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
- Monitor labor productivity and assist in controlling project costs.
- Identify and resolve field conflicts, utility clashes, and installation challenges.
- Maintain accurate daily reports and communicate material or equipment needs.

Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent; additional certification or training in construction management a plus.
- Minimum five (5) years of underground utility construction experience.
- Previous supervisory or crew leadership experience.
- Working knowledge of sanitary sewer, storm sewer, force main, water main, and lift station construction.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience using pipe lasers, builders' levels, and grade-checking equipment.
- Strong understanding of OSHA safety regulations and excavation safety.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to successfully pass a post-offer drug screening
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
This position primarily works outdoors on active construction sites and is regularly exposed to changing weather conditions, uneven terrain, dust, mud, heavy equipment, noise, and excavation hazards.
The employee must be able to:
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work in trenches for extended periods.
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 90 pounds with assistance.
- Safely operate around heavy construction equipment and moving vehicles.
- Work overtime, weekends, or varying schedules as project demands require.
- Travel to multiple project locations throughout the northern and metro Atlanta area.
