Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Selects the type and size of pipe, fittings, valves, steel, equipment, and related materials to assemble as instructed.
  • Plans sequence of operations, applying knowledge of geometry, effects of heat and allowance for weld shrinkage in preparatory to welding.
  • Lays out, positions, aligns and fits components together according to blueprints and project specifications.
  • Moves parts into position manually or by hoist, cranes, jigs, fixtures, clamps and jacks.
  • Cuts, threads, bends, shape pipe, and steel with various tools and equipment.
  • Loads, transports, and unloads materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Performs minor maintenance and cleaning activities of tools, equipment and facility.
  • Responsible for observing and complying with all safety rules, including wearing personal safety equipment.

Requirements

  • Technical or on-the-job experience as well as certifications preferred.
  • Take a company written pipefitter's test.
  • Working knowledge of B31.3 piping code,
  • Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
  • Make decisions based on measurable criteria.
  • Apply basic math, geometry, and trigonometry mathematical functions to solve problems.
  • Plan work and select proper tools.
  • Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
