Job summary

ResourceMFG Amarillo is seeking a skilled pipefitter to read blueprints and plan pipe routes, select fittings, and prepare materials for fabrication on industrial projects. You will weld and join pipe sections using SMAW, GTAW, or GMAW, perform testing for leaks, and ensure compliance with ASME B31.1/B31.3.

Qualifications

• Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings.
• Experience with pipe welding and threading.

Responsibilities

• Interpret technical drawings to plan pipe routes and layouts.
• Measure, cut, thread, bend, and bevel pipes using tools and torches.
• Connect pipe sections by welding, soldering, brazing, threading, or mechanical joints.
• Install pipe hangers, brackets, and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment.
• Pressure-test systems and verify leaks; ensure ASME B31.1/B31.3 compliance.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Blueprint Reading: Interpret technical drawings, 3D models, and schematics to plan pipe routes and layouts.
• Material Preparation: Measure, cut, thread, bend, and bevel pipes made of steel, copper, plastic, or exotic alloys using specialized tools and torches.
• Assembly & Joining: Connect pipe sections and fittings via welding (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW), soldering, brazing, threading, or mechanical/cemented joints.
• Support & Rigging: Install structural pipe hangers, brackets, and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment using hoists and lifting gear.
• Testing & Inspection: Pressure-test completed systems to check for leaks, defects, or malfunctions and ensure compliance with ASME codes (such as B31.1 and B31.3).

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Technical Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude, proficiency in pipe welding/threading, and literacy in engineering blueprints.
• Safety & Codes: Knowledge of OSHA safety guidelines, personal protective equipment (PPE), and industrial piping standards.
• Physical Demands: Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs or more), work in confined spaces or at heights, and stand for long shifts.
