Job summary

Ahern is hiring for a Pipe Fabrication Shop - Metal Trades position in Appleton, WI. The role supports pre-fabrication and welding activities, assists with grinding, and helps with material handling and truck loading in a fast-paced environment.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, be able to lift up to 50 pounds, and read measuring devices. Good teamwork and safety practices are essential to success at Ahern.

Responsibilities

• Assist welders/fabricators with grinding pipe and material handling.
• Load trucks and support pre-fabrication/welding processes.
• Heat treating, hydro testing, and acid washing as needed.
• Distribute materials and operate a forklift, SkyTrak, or tractor.
• Follow safety rules and wear PPE at all times.

How You Will Contribute

The candidate will learn pre-fabrication/welding processes and assist welders/fabricators with grinding pipe, loading trucks, heat treating, hydro testing, acid washing, material distribution, and operating a forklift, SkyTrak, and/or tractor.

What You Need To Qualify

Metal Trades Fabricator applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and must have a high standard on an aptitude test. Candidates must be able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds, stand, bend, and crouch throughout a 10-hour shift, and be able to effectively read and use measuring devices. Candidates must have demonstrated the ability to work in a team environment. You can stand out above other candidates by having a positive attitude, possessing excellent problem-solving skills, and being able to perform duties safely and effectively in a fast-paced work environment that will be loud at times. Safety regulations must be followed at all times, including the use of personal protective equipment (safety glasses, hearing protection, hand, knee, and foot protection).
