Job summary

EmergencyMD in Washington, DC is seeking a Pipe Crew Superintendent to supervise field operations for underground utility and storm drainage crews, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with plans and schedule.

You will oversee installation of storm drain, sanitary sewer, and waterline systems, lead and train field personnel, and uphold productivity, safety, and quality on site. Experience with pipe crews and strong leadership are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy civil construction or underground utility installation.
• Proven track record supervising pipe crews on municipal, DOT, or federal projects.
• Strong understanding of storm, sewer, and waterline systems and related construction practices.
• Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, blueprints, and grade sheets.
• Experience coordinating with inspectors and QC personnel.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Preference given to candidates who can provide their own experienced crew.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise all activities of the pipe crew, including operators, pipelayers, and laborers.
• Plan daily work tasks, material deliveries, and equipment needs to meet production goals.
• Oversee installation of storm drain, sanitary sewer, and waterline systems and related structures.
• Verify grades, alignments, and slopes using survey data, lasers, or GPS systems.
• Ensure trench safety, proper shoring, and compliance with OSHA standards.
• Coordinate with project management, QC staff, and inspectors to resolve issues.
• Conduct safety meetings and enforce PPE use and hazard controls.
• Review drawings and submittals for accuracy; submit daily field reports and logs.
