Job summary

Merchants Insurance Group is seeking a Claims Supervisor for Personal Injury Protection to lead a team handling PIP/No-Fault claims from our Buffalo, NY HQ. The role emphasizes mentorship, regulatory compliance, and risk management within a hybrid work schedule requiring in-office collaboration two days per week.

You will oversee complex, high-exposure claims, coordinate with counsel, and drive quality, efficiency, and cost controls while maintaining excellent customer service and regulatory

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and claims experience.
• Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible claims experience, with PIP/No-Fault preferred.
• Prior supervisory or team-lead experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of PIP/No-Fault statutes, regulations and claims practices.
• State adjuster licenses as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily management of the PIP/no-fault claims team to ensure accurate handling.
• Develop colleagues, identify trends, manage escalations, and improve outcomes.
• Provide technical guidance on coverage, medical causation, and wage loss issues.
• Review complex or high-exposure claims and give direction.
• Monitor inventories, diaries, cycle times, and reserves across the unit.
• Partner with counsel to achieve effective claim outcomes and budgets.
