Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an ATC training facilitator to operate and manage a high-fidelity training simulator. You will oversee radar and voice systems, embody proper ATC phraseology, and translate data into industry-standard terminology while guiding students through classroom and lab certifications.

The role emphasizes teamwork across multidisciplinary groups, effective oral and written communication, and adherence to FAA-style procedures. US citizenship and clearance eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Basic computer proficiency and ability to read diagrams and manuals.
• Clear spoken communication and ability to be understood.
• US Citizenship required and ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.
• Experience in ATC simulation environments is strongly desired but not required.
• Experience with FAA JO 7110.65 is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as pilot and other controllers in an ATC training simulator.

Job description

• Serve as the pilot and other controllers in an Air Traffic Controller training simulator
• Operate simulated radar display and voice communication systems during medium- and high-fidelity training exercises
• Simulate actions and communications of pilots and remote ATC facilities
• Receive voice commands from students
• Input proper entries into the automated system to simulate pilot actions
• Translate displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology
• Respond to students via the VCS using proper phraseology
• Complete Classroom certification by passing a test on airspace and procedures
• Complete Lab certification by performing as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions
• Support FAA air traffic controller training services and training program support

Requirements

• Minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent)
• Basic computer proficiency
• Ability to read and interpret materials such as diagrams and manuals
• Ability to speak clearly and be understood
• US Citizenship required
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary team is desired
• Experience and certification in ATC Tower, TRACON or En Route simulation lab is strongly desired, but not required
• Effective oral and written communications skills are desiredWorking knowledge of FAAO JO 7110.65 is strongly desired, but not required
• Effective team building skills are desired
• MS Office Suite proficiency (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) is desired
• Basic familiarization of current technologic tools (tablets, notebooks, applications, etc.) is desired
• Basic familiarization or experience with pilot/controller communications or phraseology is desired

Core Competencies

Demonstrates proficiency in operating simulated radar displays and voice communication systems while effectively communicating using proper ATC terminology. Capable of supporting FAA air traffic controller training services and maintaining a Public Trust clearance.
