Job Description

Design Engineer

This challenging and exciting Design Engineer opportunity (remote) requires an ambitious engineer with experience in design within the piling, foundations, or ground and geotechnical engineering sectors. This position is remote, so any UK location will be considered, but a full UK driving licence is required as occasional site travel will be necessary.

The successful candidate will ideally (but not necessarily) possess a relevant qualification and design experience in any of the mentioned sectors.

The Person
  • Demonstrable experience in the design of piling, foundations, or ground and geotechnical engineering contracts.
  • Ability to contribute to various design areas with enthusiasm and drive.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to relate to people at all levels and maintain respect professionally and personally.
  • Understanding of the requirements of a fast-paced design department, with the ability to manage and deliver daily design processes.
  • Ability to maximize business return through design proposals and develop client relationships via high service levels.
  • Hands-on approach in a team environment, promoting alternative solutions and innovation.
  • Proven experience in client communication.
The Role
  • Contribute to delivering high-quality design solutions aligned with project specifications and client needs.
  • Review and challenge designs to reduce risks and improve efficiency.
  • Produce high-quality material, identify constraints, and update project teams to ensure timely delivery.
  • Promote company values and collaborate across teams to add value in design processes.
  • Work with estimating and pre-contract teams to support tender submissions.
  • Prepare reports on design performance for decision-making.
  • Participate in review meetings, client presentations, and progress meetings.
  • Ensure designs comply with policies, legal requirements, and best practices.
  • Manage personal targets, risks, and design change initiatives effectively.
  • Liaise with relevant internal teams as needed.
