Job Summary

Part‑time instructor positions (as defined by State Board Policy, BP 3‑10) exist to create and maintain a teaching and learning environment that empowers students to be successful. Par‑time instructors work under the direction of their respective Department Chair, Associate Dean, or Division Dean.

Part‑time instructors may be employed to teach courses, conduct presentations, or perform other service activities when current instructors and faculty are not available.

Must be a State of Colorado resident or able to relocate to Colorado prior to the first date of employment. All work must be performed in the State of Colorado.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Meet all scheduled classes/labs/clinics and provide instruction in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the college and the Department Chair’s approved course outline.
  • Use teaching methods and media designed to reach students of varying educational and experiential backgrounds to allow each student the opportunity to master the objectives of the course.
  • Inform students of course requirements through a course syllabus, including specific objectives, means of attaining objectives, and methods of instruction and grading.
  • Evaluate students on a continuing basis to allow them to be aware of their own progress.
  • Participate in department and/or college‑level assessment of student learning outcomes in general education and career/technical courses and programs as required.
  • Recommend instructional materials, textbooks, appropriate instructional equipment, and the Library supportive reference materials.
  • Maintain and submit records as required by policy and procedures.
  • Promote affirmative action equal opportunity concepts within the scope of assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintain required credentials, licenses, certification as appropriate, and demonstrate proficiency and up‑to‑date knowledge in the subject matter area.

Minimum Qualifications

Completed master’s degree in any field, plus 18 graduate credits from among the following disciplines: Life Science, Natural Science, Physical Science, Astronomy, Biology, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Earth Science, Ecology, Environmental Science, Geology, Meteorology, Science Education, Physics.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching at the post‑secondary or college level.

Selection Process

Instructors may be employed per academic semester. Instructors are at‑will and subject to the terms of their appointment.
