POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will perform launching and receiving of pipeline integrity tools, line locates and observes and monitors operations, construction and maintenance associated pipeline right of ways. When necessary, will assist in the maintenance of all equipment associated with and not limited to the pipeline, valve sites and meter sites. The position will provide assistance to all support groups.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Works with pipeline safety to conduct pre-pigging job safety analysis (JSA) and hazard assessment. Conducts site review to identify risk controls such as, but not limited to, personal protection equipment (PPE), emergency response, barricades, notices, hydrocarbon detectors.
  • Performs pipeline pigging in accordance with established procedures. Operates pig launcher to send pig into pipeline and retrieves pig from pig receiver.
  • Performs routine maintenance on pigging equipment.
  • Ensures information in pipeline maintenance system is accurate, current, and complete.
  • Monitors fugitive emissions during pigging operations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Must be able to pass drug test and background check
  • Must be able to work 12-hour shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
SKILLS:
  • Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS): Demonstrates with minimal guidance use of software package with multiple maintenance functionalities such as equipment data management, preventative maintenance, work order system, scheduling planning, inventory control, asset tracking.
  • Emergency Response: Trained in pipeline emergency and incident response.
  • Operation Monitoring: Demonstrates with minimal guidance ability to watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Pigging Equipment: Able to describe theory, components, and application of pipeline pigging equipment such as: batching pigs, scaping and cleaning pigs, gauging pigs, liquids displacement pigs, launchers and receivers, closures, tracking and transmitters, washer/cleaning system. Working knowledge of chronic problems and system malfunctions and their resolutions.
  • Pipeline Operations: Demonstrates with minimal guidance knowledge of pipeline system operating parameters and practical experience with equipment such as pumps, compressors, regulation, shutdown equipment.
  • Public Safety & Security: Demonstrates with minimal guidance knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
  • Safety: Applies in difficult or complex situations ability to recognize safety risks in operational activities and use appropriate measures to control and manage identified risks.
  • Safety Awareness: Ability to recognize and identify potential hazards. Evaluates changes in work environment with respect to impact on safety of self and others. Understands potential threats created by deviation from safety procedures and improper use of tools and equipment. Uses personal protection equipment. Uses tools and equipment in compliance with manuals and training. Calls attention to potential and actual hazardous conditions as they arise. Demonstrates knowledge of lockout/tag out procedures. Stops work if there are unsafe working conditions.
