Job summary

Subsense is seeking a Large Animal Neuroscience Lead to transition nanoparticle‑based neurotechnology from rodents to large animals. This hands‑on leadership role runs pig neuroscience studies, manages CRO partnerships, and directs a 3–4 person team.

You will design non‑GLP proof‑of‑concept studies, supervise in‑house experiments, and collaborate with engineering, data science, and R&D to translate findings into development decisions.

Qualifications

• PhD in neuroscience or equivalent with substantial research experience.
• Experience independently designing and executing in‑vivo neuroscience studies in pigs or large animals.
• Experience managing CROs or external research partners; able to plan and evaluate deliverables.
• Strong experimental design and quantitative analysis skills; track record of data integrity.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute acute, non-GLP pig neuroscience studies with defined controls and endpoints.
• Perform stereotactic targeting, instrumentation, stimulation, and electrophysiological recordings with surgical teams.
• Lead a 3–4 person group, set priorities, coordinate study days, provide mentorship and feedback.
• Manage CROs and academic partners, including scopes, budgets, timelines, and on‑site execution.
• Translate rodent methods to large-animal workflows; specify prototype requirements and calibration.
• Establish reliable neural readouts and workflows, separating biological signals from artifacts.
• Coordinate IACUCs, animal care, training, and study documentation with veterinary teams.
• Deliver clear study reports and reproducible datasets for technical decisions and investor diligence.
