Job summary

Akron Children’s Hospital is seeking a Staff Nurse for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). This full-time role is 36 hours per week across three 12-hour shifts (7 AM–7:30 PM) with onsite duties.

The ideal candidate will hold a BSN or be within 5 years of completion, be licensed as an Ohio RN, and possess BLS certification. Prior pediatric or PICU experience and EMR proficiency (EPIC) are highly valued.

Qualifications

• BSN degree is required or must be obtained within 5 years from date of hire.
• RN license in the state of Ohio is required.
• Current BLS certification required; additional certifications may be required by department.
• Minimum of one year of relevant nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and direct nursing care with a focus on family centered care.
• Provide care addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs of patients.
• Lead and mentor clinical staff; participate in precepting new employees.
• Engage in quality improvement and safety initiatives.
• Promote collaboration with providers and ensure high-quality pediatric care.
