PICU RN Job Details – Milwaukee, WI

• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2100–$2250
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel Registered Nurse)
• Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53226
• Unit: Pediatric Cardiac ICU (West 3) – 24 beds
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Schedule: 36 hours per week; includes every other weekend and holiday rotation
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 8/25/2025 – End: 11/22/2025)
• Electronic Medical Record: Epic
• Float Requirements: May float to NICU and general PICU as needed
• Scrub Colors: Any professional scrubs
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
  
  

PICU RN Qualifications

• Active Wisconsin or Compact State Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Associate Degree or Certificate in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS and PALS certifications; ACLS preferred
• At least 12-18 months of recent high-acuity pediatric cardiac ICU experience required
• Level I Trauma nursing experience highly preferred
• Strong clinical skills in pediatric cardiac assessment and critical thinking
• Experience caring for neonates, infants, and adult congenital heart patients
  
  

PICU RN Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver nursing care for pediatric cardiac ICU patients, including those with open heart surgeries, heart transplants, and open chests
• Provide advanced care for hemodynamically compromised patients and those with respiratory failure
• Utilize critical thinking and advanced cardiac assessment skills to optimize patient outcomes
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure family-centered care
• Float to Neonatal ICU (NICU) and general PICU units as needed
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, including dress code and vaccination requirements
