Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience as an Advanced Practice Provider.
• Strong knowledge of complex congenital cardiac anatomy and physiology.
• Master's Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Active New York State Registered Nurse License in good standing.
• Active New York State Nurse Practitioner License in good standing.
• Current national certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Current BLS Certification (AHA).
• Current PALS Certification.
• Strong critical care and pediatric cardiac management skills.

Responsibilities

• The APP team provides comprehensive care for a wide range of critically ill patients, including pre-operative and post-operative pediatric cardiac surgery patients.
• Manage complex congenital heart disease, high-risk single ventricle physiology, arrhythmia diagnosis and management.
• Provide vasopressor and inotropic support, pacemaker management, ECMO, CRRT and related critical care interventions.
• Serve as primary covering provider with multidisciplinary collaboration and family communication.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Nurse Practitioner to join a specialized 16-bed acuity-adaptable Pediatric Cardiac Care Center dedicated to caring for critically ill pediatric patients with congenital and acquired heart disease.

This role offers the opportunity to work alongside a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other clinical specialists in a dynamic, high-acuity environment. The Nurse Practitioner will serve as a primary covering provider and play a key role in the management of complex cardiac patients across the continuum of critical care.

Clinical Responsibilities

The APP team provides comprehensive care for a wide range of critically ill patients, including:

• Pre-operative and post-operative pediatric cardiac surgery patients
• Complex congenital heart disease
• High-risk single ventricle physiology
• Open chest management
• Arrhythmia diagnosis and management
• Vasopressor and inotropic support
• External and internal pacemaker management
• VA and VV ECMO support
• Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
• Adult congenital heart disease patients requiring medical or post-operative management
• Occasional PICU boarder patients with diverse critical care needs

While familiarity with ICU procedures is essential, this position is primarily focused on advanced clinical management rather than procedural volume.
