Role Description

The Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Advanced Practice Provider will deliver comprehensive care to critically ill pediatric patients with congenital and acquired heart disease in an intensive care setting. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing advanced assessments, developing and implementing care plans, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and managing complex therapies in collaboration with attending physicians and multidisciplinary teams. The role involves participation in daily rounds, coordination of transitions of care, family education and counseling, and adherence to evidence-based protocols, safety standards, and quality improvement initiatives. The provider will also contribute to clinical documentation, interdisciplinary communication, and may engage in research, teaching, and mentoring activities within the division. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Baltimore, MD.

Qualifications
  • Current licensure or eligibility as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, with appropriate national certification in a pediatric or acute care specialty.
  • Demonstrated expertise in pediatric cardiac intensive care, including hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, and acute care of post-operative cardiac patients.
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic reasoning, and care planning skills for critically ill children with complex cardiovascular conditions.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, communicate clearly with families and colleagues, and coordinate care across services.
  • Training and experience in evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards in an ICU environment.
  • Willingness to participate in teaching, precepting, or mentoring, and to support research or academic initiatives within the department.
  • Master’s degree or higher in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program; prior pediatric cardiac ICU or pediatric critical care experience strongly preferred.
  • Flexibility to work full-time hours, including possible evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required for intensive care coverage.
