Job summary

The Town of Castle Rock Recreation Center in Castle Rock, CO is seeking a pickleball instructor to schedule lessons, reserve courts, and deliver engaging group or private classes. You will prepare lesson plans, set goals for each student, and tailor coaching to individual needs while promoting a positive, safe environment for all participants.

Responsibilities include teaching movement on the courts, assisting with marketing activities for private lessons, and potentially providing emergency

Qualifications

• Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Age 16+.
• At least 6 months experience teaching group or private lessons.
• Certifications in Pickleball Instruction or PPR/IFP/USPTA (or similar).
• CPR and AED certifications required.

• Prepare lesson plans to teach pickleball techniques, skills and rules.
• Set personalized instruction goals and tailor instruction to individual needs.
• Prepare for program activities; organize equipment; set-up/break-down materials.

• May assist with marketing private lessons and engage with the public.
• May perform emergency first aid and life-saving techniques.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

• Responsible for scheduling lessons with clientele and reserving facility courts.
• Prepares lesson plans that effectively teach proper pickleball techniques, skills, and rules of the game.
• Sets personalized instruction goals for each individual and tailors’ instruction to individual needs.
• Responsible for preparation for program activities; organize relative equipment; may be required to set-up and break-down materials used for instruction.
• Interacts with participants on the pickleball courts during class.
• May be responsible for participating in events to market/advertise private lesson opportunities and engage with the public.
• May be required to perform emergency first aid and life-saving techniques.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications:

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Age Requirement: Must be at least 16 years old
Experience: At least six ( 6) months experience instructing group or private lessons; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Licenses and/ or Certifications:

• Pickleball Instruction Certification or PPR, IFP, USPTA or one similar.
• Valid CPR and AED certifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of the principles, practices, teaching methods and techniques that provide positive motivation; specific pickleball program teaching strategies and the techniques used to meet established skills and abilities.
• Ability to plan, organize, instruct, and supervise the assigned program
• Ability to communicate effectively to the participants when teaching skills
• Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively and to determine proper course of action to be taken
• Ability to work with little or no supervision, as necessary; learn and adhere to the facility emergency procedures.
• Ability to remain current with trends, rules, and regulations of the sport of Pickle Ball.
• Must be well-spoken, friendly, and possess exceptional customer service skills.
• Ability to be flexible and adapt to various time requests and restraints.

Physical Demands:

• Physical ability to move around outside or inside on courts for a minimum of 90 minutes.
• Moderate to heavy physical work to includelifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials up to 50 pounds
• Ability to exert heavy physical effort andfrequent performance of activities requiring a full range of body movement includingclimbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling/bending, crouching, crawling, and/or twisting
• Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate tools and electrical equipment as well as for driving equipment and vehicles
• Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information
• Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens
• Ability to physically access a variety of event sites
• Works both indoors and out, and to withstand exposure to varying weather conditions

Equipment Used:

• This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.

Must satisfactorily complete a criminal background prior to commencing employment.
