Job summary

Multnomah Athletic Club (MAC) seeks a dedicated Pickleball Instructor to guide players of all ages and levels toward their athletic goals in a dynamic, member-focused setting.

You will design individualized lesson plans, assess performance, and teach fundamentals, advanced skills, and strategy in both private and group sessions, while maintaining safety and delivering exceptional service aligned with MAC values.

Qualifications

• Four+ years of pickleball playing experience (club, league, collegiate, recreational, or competitive).
• Coaching or instructional experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of pickleball skills, techniques, rules, and game strategy.
• CPR/AED, First Aid, and SafeSport certifications, or ability to obtain within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver individualized pickleball instruction based on athlete skill level and goals.
• Evaluate performance and provide constructive coaching and feedback.

The Role

As a Pickleball Instructor at the Multnomah Athletic Club (MAC), you will help athletes of all ages and skill levels achieve their individual pickleball goals in a safe, engaging, and supportive environment. You will provide high-quality instruction focused on skill development, game strategy, athletic growth, and a positive member experience. This role combines coaching expertise, relationship building, and a commitment to exceptional service while supporting the MAC mission and values.

What You’ll Do

• Design and deliver individualized pickleball instruction and training programs based on athlete skill level, goals, experience, and physical considerations.
• Evaluate athlete performance and provide constructive coaching and feedback to promote continuous improvement.
• Teach pickleball fundamentals, advanced skills, tactics, and game strategy in both private and group lesson settings.
• Create a physically safe and emotionally supportive environment for all athletes.
• Partner with the Court Sports Manager to develop and deliver quality pickleball programming.
• Submit lesson billing accurately and on time.
• Respond professionally and effectively to member questions, comments, and concerns.
• Serve as a resource for members regarding pickleball programs, lessons, leagues, and club offerings.
• Maintain compliance with all club safety policies, SafeSport requirements, and operational procedures.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions, injuries, or incidents in a timely manner.
• Set up, monitor, and take down pickleball courts and equipment as needed.
• Participate in department meetings, staff trainings, and professional development opportunities.
• Stay current with pickleball rules, coaching techniques, industry trends, and best practices.
• Promote MAC's mission, values, and commitment to outstanding member service.
• Maintain regular, reliable attendance and support departmental operations as needed.

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

• Minimum of four (4) years of pickleball playing experience through club, league, collegiate, recreational, or competitive participation.
• Previous coaching or instructional experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of pickleball skills, techniques, rules, and game strategy.
• CPR/AED, First Aid, and SafeSport certifications, or the ability to obtain them within three months of hire.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other basic computer applications.

Schedule & Work Environment

• Work is performed both on the court and in an office environment.
• Schedule will vary based on lesson demand and program needs.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and other non-traditional hours is required.
