Job summary

A community-focused youth organization in New Jersey seeks a part-time instructor for pickleball. Responsibilities include leading sessions, instilling core YMCA values, and ensuring a positive learning environment. Ideal candidates will have experience in teaching pickleball, flexibility in their schedule, and necessary certifications. Qualifications

  • Experience with teaching and/or playing pickleball is essential.
  • Must have knowledge of rules and regulations of pickleball.
  • Certifications in CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid are required.
  • Previous experience working with children is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children preferred.
  • Must demonstrate instructor skills per YMCA standards.
  • Experience with diverse populations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead practice sessions focused on education and skill development.
  • Instruct according to YMCA guidelines.
  • Model and teach the core values of YMCA.
  • Develop a positive and nurturing learning environment.
  • Develop leadership, initiative and good judgment in athletes.
  • Promote good health and sound training habits.
  • Create a positive, nurturing learning environment for youth development and social responsibility.
  • Follow directions from the head coach and assist at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills

Experience with teaching and/or playing pickleball
Knowledge of rules and regulations of pickleball
Flexible schedule

Education

Requirements

Essential Functions:

  • Lead challenging and educational practice sessions.
  • Instruct group in accordance with YMCA guidelines and rules of the game.
  • Uphold, model, teach and put the four core values of the YMCA into action in all activities - everyday: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
  • Maintain professional appearance and report on time to all scheduled programs.
  • Strive to develop the qualities of leadership, initiative and good judgment in all athletes.
  • Develop habits that promote good health and sound training rules.
  • Create a positive and nurturing learning environment to instill and encourage youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
  • Adhere to the directions given by the head coach and assist at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
