Job summary

Sportime | John McEnroe Tennis Academy on Long Island seeks a energetic pickleball coach to develop and run instructional, recreational and competitive programming for members and guests, driving court revenue while upholding our high standards.

You will lead on-court lessons, recruit and train staff, and promote the club’s programs and benefits while ensuring a welcoming environment for players of all levels.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years playing and/or coaching pickleball.
• Knowledge of the pickleball industry.
• Ability to design and develop programs.
• Team building, motivational and leadership skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong administrative and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-court instruction and supervision for lessons, clinics, leagues, open play sessions and special events
• Develop and sell new and existing pickleball programs to members and guests
• Communicate with players to inform them of programs, promotions, member benefits and other play opportunities at the club
• Interact with players during social play to create a fun and welcoming environment
• Recruit, train and schedule pickleball coaching staff
• Understand financial goals and work to achieve them
• Promote other products and services of our company
• Attend staff meetings and special events when required

Since 1994, SPORTIME has been proud to operate the finest tennis and sports facilities in New York State. SPORTIME’s 20 club locations most recently expanded to include the iconic Port Washington Tennis Academy, now SPORTIME Port Washington. SPORTIME currently offers 192 indoor and outdoor tennis courts and 131 pickleball courts, as well as rinks, turf, camps, gyms and more, at sites across Long Island, in NYC, in Westchester and in the NY Capital Region. SPORTIME clubs are state-of-the-art, yet affordable, and feature the best tennis, pickleball, sports and camp facilities and programs, including the John McEnroe Tennis Academy (JMTA) and SPORTIME Volleyball Club (VBC). SPORTIME clubs serve individuals of every age and athletic ability, 365 days a year.

Job Summary

Develop and implement pickleball instructional, recreational and competitive programming for our members and guests that maximizes court revenue, minimizes related expenses, and reflects the high standard of excellence that we have established for all SPORTIME services.

Compensation: $65-$70k per year plus on-court earnings potential and bonus incentives

Schedule: Full-time, weeknights and weekend availability

Premiums are deducted pre-tax from employees’ gross pay; Sportime contributes to the premiums of employees based upon gross pay thresholds.
• 401k Plan with employer match – Employees are eligible to enroll in Sportime’s 401k retirement plan, with matching, after they have completed one year of continuous service, worked at least 1000 hours in such calendar or anniversary year, and are over 21 years old.
