Urth Caffe is a restaurant/café that values teamwork and friendly people. We are seeking a motivated Roastery Team Member to join our team, As a part of the Roastery Team you will be an integral part of our coffee roasting and production process. Your work will help ensure the highest quality coffee is delivered to all of our Urth Caffe stores, as well as customers nationwide and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Roast coffee to develop the desired profile and perform sensory evaluations (cupping) of production batches.
• Participate in production cuppings to assess coffee quality and address any defects.
• Roast coffee samples and assist with hosting tasting and cupping sessions.
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace, adhering to best practices.
• Conduct routine cleaning and perform scheduled maintenance on roasting equipment.
• Accurately blend and label coffee for production.
• Complete daily documentation for each roast and blend.
• Collaborate with the Head Roaster and Operations Team on roasting experiments, inventory management, and consistency in roasting profiles.
• Ensure inventory levels meet the needs of our nine store locations and outside customers.
• Proactively identify and address obstacles that may affect production or inventory.
• Stay enthusiastic, accept risks and responsibilities, and demonstrate dedication to Urth Caffé’s mission.

General & Safety Requirements:

• Always use safety equipment, such as safety belts and shoes.
• Use a hand truck for items over 15 lbs. Assistance will be provided for anything over 25 lbs.
• Perform physical tasks in a variety of conditions requiring moderate strength, including lifting, walking, and climbing.
• Ensure safety by being aware of wet floors and spillage.
• Always clean as you go to maintain a safe, organized environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to regularly lift up to 25 pounds unassisted.
• Ability to respond quickly to sounds and move safely in tight or uneven spaces.
• Ability to climb ladders and perform various physical tasks like bending, squatting, and twisting.
• Willingness to work in cold temperatures and wear protective gear.
