Simmons Foods in Arkansas seeks a utility-focused operator to run and adjust picking room equipment in the RKP department, ensuring feather removal quality and minimal bird damage while upholding safety standards.
You will monitor banks, flow, temperatures, and logs, coordinate repairs, and maintain clean, safe work areas in a team-based environment. PPE is required, with emphasis on safety compliance.
Responsible for operating, monitoring, and adjusting picking room equipment to ensure efficient feather removal, product quality, and minimal bird damage while maintaining safety and compliance in the RKP (receiving, killing, picking) department.
The role supports production in meeting quality standards by setting up and continuously validating picking equipment, including finger plates, picker height, separation, and pitch, to ensure proper operation. It involves consistently monitoring picking banks, rail water flow, and temperature levels to maintain process efficiency, as well as setting and verifying scalder and flash scalder temperatures within optimal ranges. The position requires inspecting birds to ensure compliance with feather removal, cuticle standards, and acceptable damage levels, while also identifying and troubleshooting equipment performance issues and product defects. Adjustments must be made as needed to pickers, scalder temperatures, and overall process conditions to maintain quality output. The role includes communicating equipment concerns and coordinating repairs with the Supervisor, Superintendent, and maintenance team, maintaining safe work areas, and completing all required documentation procedures. Additionally, the position requires the use of basic computer skills to log checks into the system and to complete required written and electronic reports.

Work is performed in noisy, wet, hot (up to 100 degrees), and humid conditions, with slip, trip, and fall hazards.
