Job summary

Piano Cleveland is seeking a part-time PianoLab Coordinator to bring piano programming to K-8 students in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. You will manage registration, communicate with families, and assist the PianoLab Instructor while partnering with Education and Community Lead.

This role focuses on after-school programming, coordinating schedules, ensuring transportation logistics, and maintaining a positive classroom environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Co-lead after-school PianoLab program at a westside Cleveland public school.
  • Manage student registrations and organize class schedules.
  • Communicate with parents about registration and transportation logistics.
  • Provide administrative support to the PianoLab Instructor.
  • Monitor attendance and ensure proper student pick-up per school policy.
  • Set up/tear down classrooms and ensure equipment functions.
  • Collaborate with Education and Community Engagement Coordinator to evaluate program impact.
  • Assist in planning and executing end-of-program showcases.

We are best known for our signature event, the Cleveland International Piano Competition, in addition to presenting concerts and community engagement experiences for piano lovers of all ages and backgrounds.

JOB PROFILE

As the part-time coordinator of one of our PianoLab programs, you will play an essential role in bringing piano music to K-8 students in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. You will manage the registration of students into the program, communicate with parents and families about attendance and transportation logistics, offer in-class and administrative assistance to the PianoLab Instructor, and work collaboratively with the Education and Community Lead at Piano Cleveland to make the program a success.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Co-lead execution of afterschool PianoLab program at a westside Cleveland public school, including:

  • Managing registration of students into the program, and organizing class schedules.
  • Communicating with parents and families about registration.
  • Working with parents daily to manage transportation logistics.
  • Facilitating classroom set-up and tear-down.
  • Monitor student attendance and oversee appropriate pick-up in agreement with school policies.
  • Offering administrative assistance to PianoLab Instructor, such as printing of class materials.
  • Lead day-to-day classroom management, maintaining a structured, positive, and engaging environment for all students.
  • Ensuring instrument technology functions appropriately, and troubleshooting tech issues that may arise.
  • Collaborate with Education and Community Engagement Coordinator and PianoLab Instructor to ensure successful completion of the program by: Executing evaluation materials throughout the year to measure program impact.
  • Assisting in planning and execution of end-of-program showcase for student participants in winter and spring.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience:

    • Preferred experience in childhood education, and/or music.
  • Exemplary at working with diverse audiences across many backgrounds, including adults, families, children, teachers, schools, and community organizations.
  • Able to understand the challenges and opportunities in urban settings.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skill.s
  • Exceptional communications skills.
  • Self-motivated with enthusiasm to try new things.
  • Takes initiative.
  • Willing and excited to be a part of a collaborative and supportive team in a fast-paced creative environment.
  • Preferred but not required: Knowledge of classical music and/or piano music.

    • 1-3 years of relevant work experience working in a classroom environment.
    • Bilingual Spanish/English skills.
SALARY, BENEFITS, AND SCHEDULE:
  • $30/hour
  • Coordinator must have availability to work between the hours of 3 PM – 6 PM Monday – Thursday, as PianoLab sessions will occur after-school at a Cleveland public school on the near west side throughout the duration of the program.
  • Additional administrative work outside of the normal class hours will be compensated at the same hourly rate. Semesters run for 12 weeks (September - December and mid January - April)
