Job summary

Midwestern University, Downers Grove, seeks a motivated Research Assistant to support faculty in physiology research. You will design and execute animal, cellular, and human-based projects, collect and analyze data, and prepare figures for manuscripts. Experience with laboratory mice is essential.

Responsibilities include maintaining mouse colonies, cell culture, and performing molecular biology techniques. Occasional late hours and weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or related field.
• Experience with fluorescence microscopy and molecular biology techniques (western blot, PCR).
• Willingness to work with animal and human cell lines and occasional overtime.

Responsibilities

• Maintain transgenic mouse colonies and conduct breeding, tagging, injections, and genotyping.
• Maintain cultures and organoids; perform basic in vitro experiments and extractions.
• Perform standard molecular biology techniques with supervision.
• Collect and analyze physiological and cognitive data from humans using specialized software.
• Graph, analyze, and contribute to abstracts and poster preparations.
• Keep accurate lab notebooks and assist with literature searches and procurement.
