Job Overview

An Academic Radiation Physicist ensures the quality of care in the use of radiation sources and imaging equipment, supporting clinical research protocols and teaching activities. Responsibilities are under the direction of the Division Chief and hospital leadership.

Qualifications

Required

  • A Ph.D. or M.S. in medical physics, physics, or related fields.
  • Board certification/eligibility with clinical experience in an academic medical center; board-eligible candidates must have completed a residency.
  • Experience with radiotherapy, treatment planning, brachytherapy, Linac operations, and clinical research.

Preferred

  • CAMPEP-accredited residency experience.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.

Schedule Requirements:

  • Primary location is New Brunswick, NJ, with support for other RWJ facilities as needed.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct equipment calibration, clinical support, quality assurance, treatment planning, and safety compliance.
  • Provide high-standard radiation services.
  • Support clinical trials and participate in teaching for residents and students.
  • Contribute to faculty recruitment and participate in meetings and research activities.
