Job summary

Indian Health Service (IHS) is seeking a Physician to deliver high-quality patient care to American Indian and Alaska Native communities. This role emphasizes comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and preventive care, with opportunities to teach and mentor trainees.

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree from US/Canada or equivalent.
• Active medical license in a US state, DC, PR, or territory.
• Subject to federal background investigation and security requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert patient-centered medical care including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute, chronic, and preventive health needs within specialty.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe, effective, and coordinated care.
• Perform specialty-specific diagnostic, therapeutic, and/or surgical procedures consistent with training and credentialing.
• Contribute to teaching, mentorship, and professional development of medical staff, students, and trainees.
• Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical innovation initiatives to advance healthcare delivery.

Education

Doctor of Medicine (MD)

Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or equivalent
