Job summary

The Indian Health Service (IHS) seeks a physician to deliver comprehensive medical care to American Indian and Alaska Native communities. You will work with a dedicated team to provide evaluated diagnoses, treatment, and preventive care in a federal health system with a mission to improve health outcomes.

You will participate in teaching and professional development while contributing to quality improvement initiatives and patient safety, with opportunities for special procedures and clinical

Qualifications

• Resume must state sufficient experience and/or education to perform duties.
• Flexibility in qualifications may be used for required professional training programs.
• Graduate training in a hospital/medical setting is expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert patient-centered medical care including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute, chronic, and preventive health needs within specialty.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe, effective, and coordinated care, review conflicting medical evidence to reach final conclusions.
• Perform specialty-specific diagnostic, therapeutic, and/or surgical procedures consistent with training and credentialing including adjudicating complex disability claims.
• Contribute to teaching, mentorship, and professional development of medical staff, students, and trainees.
• Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical innovation initiatives to advance healthcare delivery.
