Overview

In collaboration with patients, families (as defined by the patient) and staff across all disciplines and departments is responsible for providing direct and appropriate clinical care and treatment to patients in the specialty area of Family Medicine.

Responsibilities

Essential FunctionsPerform comprehensive physical assessment of patients using observation, inspection, and other methods standard to telehealth services utilizing best practices and national Telehealth standards.Order or execute various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient’s condition.Diagnose and treat diseases, disorders and injuries based on patient’s medical history and results of physical assessment and refer patients to medical specialist or other practitioner for specialized treatment.Prescribe medications and therapies for treatment, preventive care, and contraception.Instruct patients and their families regarding family planning, procedures performed, plan of care, and follow‐up visits.Direct professional and ancillary health care staff during treatment of patients.Respond to inquiries from staff and patients regarding preventive health and treatments.Compile patient medical data including health history, treatment plans, results of physical examination, etc. and record in electronic medical record.Plan, promote, demonstrate, recommend and coordinate high standards of medical practice.Demonstrated expertise in relevant medical practices, protocol, trends and best practices in clinical areas assigned.Demonstrated knowledge and success in effecting overall clinical operations.Proficiency in the use of a computer, software packages, and office machines.Work within the scope of credentialing privileges.Have access to reliable high speed internet, a private space for protection of PHI during work hoursPerform other duties as assigned.Essential FunctionsIn addition to the Physician – Pediatrics position responsibilities and duties, team members acting in the capacity of the following positions will be responsible for additional assignments, as needed. These roles are assignments, not permanent, regular positions.Clinic Lead:• Assumes full responsibility for patients receiving care within the designated health centers.• Works in tandem with the Health Center’s practice and nursing leaders to ensure a collaborative teamoriented environment.• Leads and motivates the medical providers under his/her supervision; uses effective medical and people performance management processes.• Supports, leads and models the vision, mission and values of CUC.• Serves as the champion for initiatives that impact the operations of CUC and the quality of patient care.• Performs objective annual evaluations of all direct reports with input from the site leadership team

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION: M.D. or D.O. from an accredited educational institution.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: • Unrestricted licensed to practice medicine in the State of Texas.• Board Certification in Pediatrics or passage of Board Certification examination within two (2) years of employment.• Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration for the purpose of writing prescriptions.• Current Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
