Job description

Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, including award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years), is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or license requirements may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the requirements at their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements.

Basic Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, per VA Policy.
  • Degree: Doctor of medicine or equivalent from an approved school.
  • License: Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S. or its territories.
  • Residency Training: Completed residency approved by the VA, leading to board eligibility. Residency standards include ACGME, AOA, or other local approvals with appropriate US practice experience.
  • Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA programs are eligible as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and are appointed on a limited basis.
  • Language: Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Preferred Experience: Board certification in Diagnostic Radiology, with a preference for Cross Sectional Body Imaging and Sub-Specialty Board Certification.
  • Physical Requirements: Use of fingers, near and far vision correction, depth perception, color and shade discrimination.
