About the Facility - Oklahoma City Veterans Health Care System

This facility includes a 192-bed VHA hospital serving over 225,000 veterans across 48 Oklahoma counties and two counties in North Central Texas. It features Community-Based Outpatient Clinics in Lawton, Ardmore, Stillwater, Altus, Ada, Enid, Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Wichita Falls, Texas. General Surgeon Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

• Approximately 95% of time involved in direct patient care.
• Managing an average of 20-30 surgical patients and 40-50 outpatient clinical patients per month.
• Presence in the operating suite for all general surgery procedures.
• Conducting rounds on postoperative patients in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and wards, with case discussions in morbidity and mortality conferences.
• Providing consultative services at the bedside or outpatient clinic, with procedures scheduled within 30 days of consultation.
• Documenting pre-operative notes, operative reports, and follow-up evaluations promptly, adhering to timeliness standards.

Qualifications for General Surgery:

• Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in the United States or its territories.
• Board certified by the American Board of General Surgery, with current BLS and ACLS certifications.
