Job description

Seeking board-eligible or certified General Surgeons, fellowship-trained and board-eligible or certified in Surgical Critical Care, to practice at our regional referral center hospital located in beautiful northern Idaho.

Ideal candidates will focus on quality, safety, teamwork, and patient satisfaction. They will support and expand the emergency general surgery, trauma surgery, and surgical critical care programs, working with a team of 10 dedicated general surgeons and 5 APPs.

1. Full-time Surgicalist position with 168 shifts per year, covering trauma and acute care surgery services, including follow-up clinics and after-hours night call of 6 nights per month.
2. Robust benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, CME allowance, sizable employer retirement contribution, and malpractice coverage with tail.
3. Practice at an ACS-verified Level 2 Trauma Center.
4. Handle approximately 1,100 trauma admissions annually, with 93% blunt and 5% penetrating injuries.
5. Practice at Kootenai Health, a 332-bed hospital serving over 14,500 inpatient admissions annually across ten northern Idaho counties with a population of over 300,000.
6. 24/7 hospitalist and intensivist coverage, with full medical and surgical specialty backup.
7. State-of-the-art imaging facilities adjacent to the emergency department, including 3 CTs, 2 MRIs, and 3 ultrasounds.
8. Opportunities for medical education, teaching medical students and residents.
