Job description

Seeking BE/BC Neurosurgeon with an interest in Trauma and Spine to join a talented team in Hartford, CT.


Hospital Overview
  • 800+ bed hospital with dedicated Neurosurgery ORs, neuroscience units, and Neuroscience ICU.
  • Level 1 trauma center, Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, NAEC Level 4 Epilepsy Center, and Joint Commission Advanced Spine Center.
  • Robust surgical technology, including Mazor X spine robots, Medtronic O-Arm and Stealth Navigation, Zeiss microscopes, and ancillary equipment.
  • 5 dedicated Neurosurgery ORs and OR staffing, including a Perioperative Manager.
  • 2 dedicated neuroscience units and a 23-bed Neuroscience ICU with neurocritical care nurses, APPs, and 8 Neurointensivists.
  • Dedicated Neurosurgery Nurse Navigators to support patients through their care pathway.
  • Neurosurgery Residency Program in collaboration with UCONN School of Medicine.
  • Existing neurology and general surgery residencies; opportunities for teaching and collaborative research supported by a dedicated research department.
  • Air ambulance service (LIFE STAR) transporting patients from throughout New England.
Neurosurgery Program

The program is one of the busiest in New England, with 9 Neurosurgeons and over 20 Neurosurgery Physician Assistants, completing over 2,000 cases annually. It offers subspecialty expertise in Functional Neurosurgery (including Deep Brain Stimulation), Epilepsy, Skull Base, Complex Spine, Neurosurgical Oncology, Vascular & Endovascular, spine, and trauma.

Position Details

The incoming surgeon will have immediate volume, focusing on urgent cases, neuro-trauma, traumatic brain injury, spine and spinal cord injuries, as well as complex spine. The role includes maintaining an elective practice, serving as the trauma team lead, overseeing the Head Injury Program, and acting as a liaison for Neurocritical Care.
