Physician / Surgery - Cardiothoracic / Georgia / Permanent / Cardiothoracic Surgeon needed in Augusta, GA, home of the Masters (SA198048) Job

This east Georgia Medical Center is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible Cardiothoracic Surgeon with expertise in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular diseases. The hospital is a 581-bed acute care facility. The Cardiothoracic Surgeon will share a team with an advanced practice provider and nursing professionals. On-call is approximately 1:3.

Location: Augusta, GA, a charming mid-sized city with a low cost of living and easy access to major metropolitan areas including Atlanta, Charlotte, Savannah, and Greenville.

Staffing: Currently, there are three cardiothoracic surgeons supported by three Advanced Practice Providers.

Role and Responsibilities
  1. Evaluation, diagnosis, treatment/surgery, and consultation for patients with congenital and acquired abnormalities of the heart, great vessels, lungs, mediastinum, and pleura, including trauma.
  2. Providing both surgical and non-surgical care, including pre-, intra-, and post-operative management.
  3. Admitting privileges to the facility and support for critical care patients, following hospital policies.
  4. Assessing and stabilizing patients with emergent conditions.
  5. Managing chronic cardiovascular diseases, ordering tests, and recommending treatment plans, including surgeries.
  6. Coordinating care with hospitalists, primary care, cardiology, and other specialists.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of Cardiothoracic Fellowship.
  • Board Certified in Thoracic Surgery.
  • Expertise in Cardiac CT and Cardiac MR (MRAs).
