Additional Job Description
The West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Surgery seek a Surgeon with subspecialty training in Breast Disease (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The candidate will practice in Morgantown, WV.
Duties: The surgeon will provide care for patients with benign and malignant breast disease and will be actively involved in teaching and scholarship. This is a 100% breast surgery position without general surgery responsibilities or call outside of the breast team.
Qualifications: The candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. The candidate must have completed a general surgery residency program and either a breast surgery fellowship program or surgical oncology fellowship. Successful candidates must be board certified / eligible in general surgery. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
The surgeon will join an amazing team of two physicians, three APPs, two dedicated nurses, referral coordinator and scheduler who are together responsible for thousands of patients. Breast cancer patients at the WVU Cancer Institute are evaluated and treated by a multidisciplinary team. Our breast care center is accredited by the American College of Surgeons National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers and the Commission on Cancer. We have an ACR Breast Imaging Center of Excellence with fellowship-trained breast radiologists. Imaging and physician visits are coordinated for efficient, thorough patient care. Our breast cancer patients are discussed at Multidisciplinary Breast Tumor Board weekly with participation by breast surgeons, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, oncology nurses and palliative specialists.
Compensation is very competitive and our package offers relocation allowance, annual CME stipend, full benefits, and starting bonus.
