Position Overview

The Division of Mental Health seeks a Physician Specialist, Option C, at Madden Mental Health Center in Hines, Illinois, serving as a staff psychiatrist. Responsibilities include directing clinical caseloads, ensuring standards of care, evaluating cases at intake, providing clinical direction, and participating in medical committees and court testimonies. Attending mandatory training is required.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as staff psychiatrist for patients on an inpatient pavilion.
  • Provide treatment and clinical direction.
  • Offer backup coverage for other pavilions.
  • Participate in medical committees, meetings, and reviews.
  • Sign certificates for involuntary admissions and testify in court.
  • Attend all mandatory training.
  • Perform other duties within scope as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid Illinois Physician and Surgeon License.
  • Completion of an approved residency in psychiatry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of evaluating medical care quality for mental health patients.
  • One year coordinating medical services with multidisciplinary teams.
  • One year conducting psychiatric exams.
  • One year identifying and implementing treatment regimes.
  • Two years of effective communication skills.
  • One year preparing medical records and reports.

Conditions of Employment

  • Valid Illinois Controlled Substance License.
  • Valid DEA Registration.
  • Ability to join Madden Mental Health Center medical staff within 30 days.
  • Ability to travel, stand, and participate in interventions including restraints.
  • Maintain BLS certification, testify in court, serve as MOD after hours.
  • Pass background check and drug screening.
