The James J. Peters VA Medical Center is seeking a Physician - Rheumatologist to be an integral part of the Specialty Care Department at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center. Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed VA physicians who met the requirements at their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements.
Basic Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens are unavailable, in accordance with VA Policy.
- Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved medical school.
- Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the U.S.
- Residency training approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification. Residency must be accredited by ACGME, AOA, or deemed equivalent by the Medical Staff Executive Committee.
- For residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA programs, appointment as "Physician Resident Providers" is available under specific conditions.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Preferred: Fellowship training in Rheumatology, board certification in Internal Medicine, and board eligibility or certification in Rheumatology.
- Physical requirements include lifting, reaching, walking, standing, bending, and working hours as specified.
Duties
- Provide inpatient and outpatient care for rheumatologic disorders, including performing musculoskeletal ultrasound.
- Supervise Rheumatology fellows, residents, and medical students.
- Engage in clinical research and develop new initiatives.
- Appointed at Columbia University Medical Center at an academic level commensurate with experience.
